Director Paul Haggis agreed to work on the project without reading the scripts because he admired David Simon's work a great deal.

David Simon is also the creator of 'Homicide', 'The Wire', 'Generation Kill', 'The Corner', 'Treme' o 'The Deuce'.

'Show Me a Hero' won a Golden Globe in the category Best Performance by an Actor (Oscar Isaac) in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.
