'Prison Break' trivia and fun facts

Stacy Keach (the Prison Warden) spent six months in a British prison and modeled his character after the man in charge at that institution.

Wentworth Miller was a last minute casting choice. He started filming about a week after auditioning/being cast.

Michael Scofield's tattoo was designed by tattoo artist Tom Berg. Berg was asked to work on the show by Brett Ratner after previously designing the tattoo for the character of Francis Dolarhyde in Ratner's film El dragón rojo (2002). Berg estimated that to get the tattoo done for real would take four years and would cost between fifteen and twenty thousand dollars.

It took 4.5 hours to apply the tattoo to Wentworth Miller on set.

Nadine Velazquez played Maricruz Delgado in the pilot but was unable to appear in the series as she had signed on to appear in Me llamo Earl (2005) before the show was commissioned. She was replaced by Camille Guaty.

It was originally between Johnny Messner & Eric Dane for the role of ''Lincoln Burrows'' in Prison Break, Fox couldn't decide between them and they went with Dominic Purcell instead.

Thirteen episodes had originally been ordered but due to the success of the show, Fox extended it to a full season.
