'Paranoia Agent' trivia and fun facts
Acclaimed by critics and audience, 'Paranoia Agent' has several references to David Lynch's filmography, especially for speaking of psychogenic fugue, a type of mental disease that was a constant in the movie 'Lost Highway' produced in 1997 or image the doppelgänger (evil twin) also seen in other Lynch's works as TV Series 'Twin Peaks' or 'Mulholland Drive'.
Satoshi Kon said that such was the influence of ideas that had a television series would guarantee greater flexibility to produce 'Paranoia Agent' than a film. Kon wanted to offer a different entertainment in a different space too.
The filmmaker Satoshi Kon, creator of this TV series, said in an interview that 'Paranoia Agent' emerged after producing his first three films ('Perfect Blue', 'Millennium Actress' and 'Tokyo Godfathers') were several interesting ideas were out of production. Therefore, Kon decided to gather them all in a television series.
