'One Tree Hill' trivia and fun facts

Cast members Chad Michael Murray (Lucas), Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley), and James Lafferty (Nathan) each directed an episode for the first time during season 6.

Episodes are all names of songs/albums titles. Artists whose album name/song title features as an episode title are sometimes seen in the soundtrack, but not always.

The name 'One Tree Hill' was taken from a U2 song of the same name. The creator, Mark Schwahn, was listening to U2's 'The Joshua Tree' album. When the song 'One Tree Hill' came on, he decided to make it the title.

Moira Kelly was pregnant during the first season, so Karen was sent to chef school in Italy.

The Tree Hill High gym, where the Raven's games were played, is the gym that Michael Jordan played at when he was in school.

Chad Michael Murray was the first actor to be cast in the show, though creator Mark Schwahn originally wanted him to play Nathan, having seen him in bad guy roles before. But Murray himself wanted to play Lucas, because he felt that the character had a back story he could connect more to, since he also experienced being abandoned as a child.
