'Aqui no hay quien viva' trivia and fun facts
Emilio's most famous line, "Un poquito de por favor! (a little please!)" was brought to the character by Fernando Tejero himself. He said that line for the first time when he was an acting student, while asking for silence during a performance. He messed up with the words "un poquito de silencio, por favor (a little silence, please!)". The quote has since become his trademark and a very popular line in Spain.
The series is loosely based on Francisco Ibáñez's renowned comic strip "13, rue del Percebe", which also features a hilarious and disastrous group of neighbors living in the same building.
The show has the only elevator in a Spanish show that goes up and down.
Antena 3 canceled the series in the summer of 2006 with high ratings, because the production company Miramon Mendi was bought by TV broadcaster Tele 5, the direct competitor of Antena 3. The show was moved to Tele 5 and converted into "La Que Se Avecina", featuring mainly the same cast of the last season (except for Fernando Tejero, Luis Merlo and Emma Ozores) playing new characters and situations also involving a crazy group of neighbors.
Due to the huge success of the show, the network keep ordering more episodes in season 3, making a 33 episodes season that lasted from October 2004 to June 2005. Several actors had complained of the exhausting shooting pace, receiving scripts the night before filming and shooting sometimes an 80-minute episode in 3 days.
