The 'Die Hard' saga began in 1988. Bruce Willis starred as John McClane in John McTiernan's film that grossed 140,7 million dollars worldwide. 'Die Hard 2: Die Hard' opened two years after, followed by 'Die Hard with a Vengeance' in 1995, 'Live Free or Die Hard' in 2007 and 'A Good Day to Die Hard' in 2013. The most successful movie in the series is 'Live Free or Die Hard'. It made 383,5 million dollars worldwide. The least successful movie of the franchise worldwide was the first installment, with only 140 million dollars, but if we focus on United States the least successful was the last one, 'A Good Day to Die Hard'. John McClane became an icon in the action cinema, and his war cry 'Yippee-Kay-Yay, motherfucker' is one of the most famous movie phrases in History. The franchise is about to continue with a new installment, a mixture between sequel and prequel, where we will meet a younger John McClane. During the franchise we've met John McClane's daughter and son, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jai Courtney.
