It could be said that Emma Stone is becoming something of an expert when it comes to awkward encounters.
During the Oscars she attempted to embrace 'La La Land' director Damien Chazelle on his win of best director, as he kissed his companion, Olivia Hamilton.

Clearly Stone has since learned from her mistakes, for it is now Jennifer Lawrence who finds herself in a similar undesirable position.
Both Stone and Lawrence were present at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last week each presenting their own films, 'Battle of the Sexes' and 'Mother!' respectively. The two happened to meet during an interview with Variety, and it was at this chance encounter that Lawrence attempted to hug Stone in what looks to be a farewell gesture. The move didn't quite go to plan for the 'The Hunger Games' actress for, Stone, taken by surprise by the whole action is seen to pull away from Lawrence's grip. Needless to say the entire interaction ended quite awkwardly.
The actresses each have impressive cinematographic careers, both having won best actress at the Oscars at one point. To add to that success, Lawrence had been at the top of the Forbes list for most highly paid actresses for two consecutive years, until this year that is, when Stone took her spot, knocking Lawrence down to number three. It is not known whether the competition between the two might have shattered the professional relationship they, until now, appeared to share.
Further Controversy
Jennifer Lawrence is no newcomer to controversy, her latest film, 'Mother!' which hit cinemas in the UK on 15th September, has received divided responses. Amongst the critics are many Twitter users who are annoyed with the actress over her comments, albeit taken out of context, in an interview with Channel 4.
The aforementioned users are accusing Lawrence of holding Donald Trump responsible for hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The actress was quick to respond to critics on her Facebook page however, where she clarified, "My remarks were taken grossly out of context. Obviously I never claimed that President Trump was responsible for these tragic hurricanes." Lawrence also took the opportunity to draw attention back to the real victims of the natural disasters by accompanying her post with various links to charity websites.
