Ever since her interview with New York Times, in which she called out Harvey Weinstein and Quentin Tarantino, various actresses have come out in support of Uma Thurman and her condemnation of two of Hollywood's most well known film-makers.
In the interview, the actress spoke in depth on her experience of Weinstein's advances, highlighting that, "he did all kinds of unpleasant things". Since then, the actress maintained a professional relationship with the producer, although thought of him more "as an enemy" over anything else.
Thurman also recounted an incident that took place on the set of 'Kill Bill', where she was forced to partake in an action scene which saw her drive a car at a high speed in order to achieve an effect desired by Tarantino. Despite voicing her concerns over the scene, Tarantino succeeded in persuading her: "I promise you the car is fine. It's a straight piece of road. Hit 40 miles per hour or your hair won't blow the right way and I'll make you do it again". However, it was a dirt road, not in the least bit straight, and the scene ended with a hospitalised Thurman.
Upon her release from hospital, the actress had a neck brace, damaged knees, concussion and a huge bump on her head to go with it. Thurman recalls how "Quentin and I had an enormous fight, and I accused him of trying to kill me. And he was very angry at that, I guess understandably, because he didn't feel he had tried to kill me". In other scenes, Thurman reveals how Tarantino spat in her face and even tried to strangle her with a chain all in the name of dramatic effect.
Weinstein and Tarantino, what a pair! A serial rapist and a near murderer. It's no fucking joke what these abhorrent criminals did to Uma Thurman, before and after #KillBill. They put her life, her dignity, her sanity in danger. Burn in hell you sick fucks. pic.twitter.com/VpD2oT1ETZ

Directors inserting themselves into a scene depicting abuse is crossing a boundary. How can an actor feel safe when your director is strangling you?

Tarantino also ignored Daryl Hannah's complaints when she was harassed by Harvey Weinstein. They kicked her off the press tour.Nobody helped her. And now Tarantino is going to make a movie about Polanski. Why is someone financing this? This is why Weinstein wasn't stopped. $$$$ https://t.co/WlSVFEoVN4

Weinstein's defence
Following Thurman's public accusations in New York Times, according to EW, producer Harvey Weinstein is reportedly considering legal action against the actress.
Ben Brafman, Weinstein's attorney has said, "Ms. Thurman's statements to The Times are being carefully examined and investigated before deciding whether any legal action against her would be appropriate". Legal action is a common response to these types of accusations as we've seen over the past few months.
