The sky's the limit for Alicia Vikander. The actress' first big project following her Oscar win as best supporting actress for 'The Danish Girl' is the new 'Tomb Raider'. The film will see Vikander take on the role of the gaming world's most famous female character, Lara Croft. The role has been a physically challenging one for the actress who's had to power through it all, including stunts while suspended up to 20 metres in the air.

Through the thrill of it all, Vikander has expressed that the most fun thing about the film has been being able to come onto the set and portray such an iconic character. "I've always loved these films, I've always been so curious to how they make them". The actress also spoke about "one of the most difficult things" she encountered: the stunt scenes. "It was fun to be up on wires... I was up on like 20 metres height and the first time it's really thrilling [but] after you've done it once, you just want to continue".

Mixed martial arts and boxing

There's no doubt that Vikander has given her all to this film though it's even more evident when you consider that she prepared for the role with MMA and boxing professionals. Given her training, the actress admitted she had a little stage fright when acting out her first few scenes because she wanted everything to go right first time.

The new Lara Croft film is directed by Swede Roar Uthaug and will bring to the screen a newer version of the character we've only seen in the most recent videogames. The film will hit UK cinemas on 14th March. Alongside Vikander, we'll see Daniel Wu, Dominic West and Kristin Scott Thomas.
