The latest actor to don the Spider-Man gear has been Tom Holland, last seen in 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'. Most recently, Holland has revealed he'd like to see his character and that of real life friend, Letitia Wright's Shuri, from 'Black Panther', run into each other in one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
Speaking to EW ahead of the release of 'Avengers: Infinity War', the actor let on to how he'd love his character, Peter Parker, to meet the Princess of Wakanda, Shuri. With both 'Avengers 4' and 'Spider-Man: Homecoming 2' on the horizon, we see no reason why it can't happen.
"I think Peter would love it. There's some great moments in the comics where Peter ends up there. Letitia and I have become really good friends over the last year and a bit. It would be brilliant to have our characters meet up, it would be so funny. She's brilliant in the movie, she's actually my favorite (sic) part of 'Black Panther'".
So enthusiastic has been Tom Holland, that he expressed his wishes to the studio, requesting the two characters meet on screen. Peter Parker already met majority of his super-hero counterparts in 'Captain America: Civil War', the same film in which Holland was introduced as the new Spider-Man, and he'll be making an appearance in 'Infinity War'. As per the trailer, part of the film is set to take place in Wakanda, so perhaps a Shuri - Spider-Man meeting isn't so outlandish.
Shuri, the new Iron Man?
Without a doubt, one of the most championed characters to come off 'Black Panther' has been Shuri, and despite having only made one appearance in the MCU to date, the actress behind the character hasn't held back on the possible directions in which she'd like to see her develop. Alongside the fans, Wright has expressed an interest in replacing Tony Stark as the next Iron Man.
Robert Downey Jr., the actor currently behind Iron Man has played the role for 10 years now. 'Avengers: Infinity War' will mark the actor's ninth appearance in the franchise, so it's no surprise some fans think his time in the MCU could be coming to an end. Fear not however, because it looks as though Marvel are, at least, one step ahead of us. Writer, Brian Michael Bendis has already been working on a solution in the form of the 15 year old character, Riri Williams. The new character, who happens to be of black origin, will act as an advisor and backup to Tony Stark, eventually becoming a new version of Iron Man called Ironheart. Given the similarities between Williams and Shuri, the comparisons are inevitable. Are we about to be introduced to a new super-heroine? Only time will tell, though it appears the idea is already on the table.
