Although the first trailer for 'The New Mutants' premiered last October, the cast of the X-Men spin-off are to return to the set this summer to film new and scarier scenes under the direction of Josh Boone. They're aiming for a true horror film and if Charlie Heaton's, "it's scarier than anything we've seen in that genre" is anything to go by, we can't wait!
The film was originally set to release this week but got pushed back for an August 2019 release. The reason behind the delay was not only to film new scenes, but also to introduce another character. It's rumoured that, as a result of these additions, at least half of the current film will have to undergo changes.
Heaton, known for his role in Netflix's 'Stranger Things' confirmed it all to Entertainment Weekly: "It's a story about these characters coming to grips with who they are and it's a horror X-Men movie, which we haven't seen before".
What we know so far
The film will be based upon the comics written by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz about a Demon Bear who haunts the dreams of Danielle Moonstar (Blu Hunt), a mutant with the ability to create illusions inspired by the fears of others.
Alongside Heaton and Hunt, the former who'll play Cannonball, will be Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik and Henry Zaga as Sunspot. Antonio Banderas has also confirmed his role as the villain in the film.
