The Oscars fever is not quenched even if it is a year away for the next gala. If something is to the liking of moviegoers, is to try to predict what productions or actors could rise with the statuette. However, the desire of J.J. Abrams are so uncontrollable that he has already started with a name he deserves the award for next year: the filmmaker defends the merits of Mark Hamill and says he will win an Oscar next year.
"I think we would all be very outraged if he does not win an Oscar, and no one will be more upset than Mark himself," says the director in an interview with the New York Daily News. Abrams, as we all know, had the actor under his orders in his brief appearance in 'The Awakening of the Force', although perhaps that appearance is too brief to consider any nomination. However, his role will become key in 'The Last Jedi', although few know the content of that tape.
A realistic announcement?
The opinion of J.J. Abrams, because of who he is, is more than valid. The main reason is that the titles of science fiction or fantasy do not usually appear even nominated beyond the technical aspects (with certain exceptions coming from Middle-earth), is that the awards almost always fall into more dramatic works. Something that is more likely to happen, if his work is really outstanding, is that Mark Hamill may have the privilege of attending the gala as a nominee. But perhaps it is a question too far away.
'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' will hit cinemas on December 15, so it will still take about ten months to discover the performance of Mark Hamill, and it's a whole year to discover whether he has a nomination at the 2018 Oscars.
Some Star Wars Facts!
1 Space Ships and Fighters
'Star Wars' could not be called that if there were no battles in outer space. Legend has come ships such as the Millennium Falcon, the X-Wing, or the TIE fighters, bombers and interceptors. Each of them has its own characteristics: armament, size, crew limit. We can remember how little Anakin was able to bring down the Confederacy under the command of an N-1 in Episode I, the adventures of the Millennium Falcon in the Original Trilogy or Episode VII, or innumerable capital ships, full of soldiers and fighters ready for battle.
2 Blasters
The blaster is the most common weapon in the Star Wars universe. It shoots burst of light energy that can has both a stun and a lethal setting. The blasters have a huge amount of variance, changing their size, power and precision depending on the situation. Its most frequent problem was the reheating, because of the high temperatures that the plasma produces in its shots. There were blasters in vehicles and fighters, but the usual thing was to see those carrying rebels, stormtroopers, droids or emblematic characters like Leia Organa or Han Solo.
3 Droids
There are all kinds, size, labor ... Difficult to stay with only one. On one hand we have the technical droids, who are in charge of maintenance work like R2-D2, R4-P17 or its more modern model, BB-8. On the other hand, there are protocol androids, which are responsible for providing services to their masters, as did C-3PO. Another important group are the battle droids, superdroids, droidekas ... An army of Artificial Intelligence capable of wreaking havoc. Nor do we forget the mythical droid Gonk or PK droid.
4 Lightsabers
It is a weapon that few dare to wield, for the skill it requires and for the responsibility that falls on its bearer. It is considered the noblest weapon to fight in mourning, and therefore, the Jedi knights and the Sith use them to engage in combat, where the most skilled warrior with the laser sword will rise as a winner. The laser of their swords can obtain several colors, which usually are associated to their respective sides: whereas colors like the green or the blue were used by the Jedi, the Sith possess red lightsabers.
5 Diverse Planets
It wouldn't be Earth, but we have a large variety of planets. It was happening- everything about the world as we knew it was ending, and it sure as hell id not feel fine. or cool. Opening my eyes, I inched aside the flimsy white curtain. We have Coruscant, Mustafar, Naboo, Tatooine, Dagobah, Jakku, Endor, Javin... Each of them share habitable planets, although their conditions vary greatly: while Tatooine or Jakku are hot and deserted, Hoth is always buried under snow, while Kashyyyk or Endor are full of vegetation and tall trees. There were also inhabited natural satellites, as in the case of Yavin 4. The planetary richness of the galaxy could be seen everywhere.
6 Disturbing Aliens
Ewoks, Wookies, Geonosians, Jawas... There are innumerable different species that populate the galaxy and appear throughout the saga 'Star Wars'. Different anatomies, intelligence, strength, size ... There are those for all tastes and everyone can stay with their favorite species. Of course, we do not blame you if you do not know the disturbing beings who are usually taken something in the canteens of the various planets.
7 The Dark Side
"Fear is the path to the dark side, fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering." These words Yoda told for the first time to Anakin Skywalker, when he was about to begin his Jedi instruction as Padawan. The road to the Dark Side is easy if you let yourself go, while trying to quit is virtually impossible. The Dark Side is powerful, and was able to drag Anakin Skywalker, whom considered The Chosen One, to be one of the most evil villains in history as a Sith under the orders of Emperor Palpatine, also called Darth Sidious. The same path has been seen to cover Kylo Ren in Episode VII; Grandson of Anakin and son of Leia and Han Solo.
8 The Duel of the Fates
One of the more thrilling moments in the saga are the lightsaber fights. We have seen Ben (Obi Wan) Kenobi face off against Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker losing his hand to his father, Darth Vader renouncing the dark side to kill the Emperor, Qui-Gon and Obi Wan fighting Darth Maul, and Yoda facing off against Count Dooku on Geonosis, or the therrible fight between Obi Wan and Anakin on Mustafar when the student went over to the dark side.
9 An unforgettable soundtrack
Is there anyone who has never heard the Star Wars soundtrack? Probably yes, but it would be like finding a needle in the Tatooine desert. From the opening to the imperial march, through the dozens of pieces that all fans can easily recognize, the soundtrack of 'Star Wars' is simply one of the most emblematic of the last decades of cinema. If we join the unmistakable introduction of the saga, we find a series of aspects that are simply unmatched.
10 The Force
It permeates everything, is present in all objects alive, and some privileged are able to handle it at will. However, it runs in the conscience of each one if it is used for noble or malicious ends. That is the great dichotomy of force, present on both the Luminous Side and the Dark Side. A war between good and evil whose origin is unknown and its outcome is uncertain. The only thing that is known with certainty is that there will always be one who uses it under the Jedi philosophy and one, by counterpart, under the philosophy of the Sith.
