The countdown to the release of the final season in 'Game of Thrones' continues, and so does the secrecy surrounding the last few of episodes in the long awaited finale to the series based on George R.R. Martin's universe. Everyone is watching for statements from actors, hoping that they will let some detail slip about the series finale or their characters. But there are so many things that happen behind the cameras, and Sophie Turner has shared some of the things that she and Maisie Williams could be found doing when not on set for the HBO series.
According to the media platform, Vulture, the actress who plays the part of Sansa Stark made an appearance at the New York Comic Con, where she spoke about her cast mate, commenting about what the pair used to get up to outside of shooting, including one rather surprising activity: "We just used to sit there and eat and watch stupid videos and smoke weed. I don't know if my publicist will kill me for saying this. We'd get high and then we'd sit in the bath together and we'd rub makeup brushes on our faces. It's fun." Without the fictitious world of 'Game of Thrones' it is clear that the pair would never have met. Turner stated that during her audition alongside Williams there was great chemistry between them: "I read with other Aryas before, but Maisie was special. We just got on like that."
But the actress did not only speak about her relationship with Maisie Williams; she also wanted to highlight the evolution of her character across the entire series, claiming that we see a Sansa who is more sure of herself than we've seen in previous seasons: "She knows what she wants. She knows what she stands for. She knows who she wants to be around, and she faces threats to that this season. But, well, we'll see how that goes." Turner also had time to tell a few curious facts about filming the last season, such as the fake name that they used to shoot the series: 'The Tree of Life', and the way in which they would avoid paparazzi during shoots: "we shoot fake scenes. We got into costume in Croatia because we know the paparazzi lurk around there, so we would spend like half a day doing nothing."
Westeros Will Live On
Although the eighth season of 'Game of Thrones' is supposedly the finale of this successful series, it will not be the last time that we see the world of Westeros on the small screen. HBO already are preparing a spin-off which will show us the history of 'The Age of Heroes', which takes place 8000 years before the events of the main series. This prequel will count on the scriptwriter from 'Kingsman: Secret Service', Jane Goldman, as the show runner, and a preview of the pilot episode will be available at the start of 2019, while the last episodes in 'Game of Thrones' are only having their preview launched in the the first half of that year.
