Attention 'Riverdale' fans, we have some exciting news! If, like us, you binged your way through the first nine episodes of the Netflix series, then you'll already have been waiting some time now for its return. Finally, we're happy to announce that the wait is almost over, for the next 'Riverdale' episode is set to air on its US channel, The CW, on Wednesday 17th January - That's this week!! The series will return following its mid-season hiatus and the second half boasts a further 13 episodes!
Shortly after its US premiere, the episode will be readily available to stream on UK Netflix. The show's impending return hasn't come alone however, for a new trailer has recently surfaced teasing the events of the second half of the season.
It's clear, now that the Black Hood has been put away, the residents of Riverdale are more than ready to welcome back a semblance of normality to their lives. Unfortunately for them, however, this is Riverdale, and there's nothing normal about it. One of the focal points of the trailer, for us, is the unexpected announcement that "Southside High School is shutdown" that's proof enough that there's still trouble on the horizon, something all too real when Jughead (Cole Sprouse) turns up to Riverdale High, Serpents in tow.
Relationships will also continue to be on the rocks this year, with both Betty (Lili Reinhart) & Jughead, and Archie (K.J. Apa) & Veronica (Camila Mendes) experiencing problems. Will the Archie-Betty kiss be at the heart of them, we wonder, or perhaps it's the wedge that goes by the name of Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) that's pushing Archie-kins and Ronnie further apart. If Hiram's "you're not good enough for my daughter" is anything to go by, we'd go with the latter.
The trailer also introduces Alice Cooper's (Mädchen Amick) long lost son, Chip, to the narrative, a reunion we doubt goes down well, for she's later seen crying her eyes out in her car. Chip isn't the only face we're shocked to see however, because Nick St. Clair (Graham Phillips) also makes an appearance in the trailer which is enough to suggest he's not going anywhere.
Is the Black Hood really dead?
We're sure that we at Movie'n'co, aren't just speaking for ourselves when we say that the revelation that caretaker Svenson (Cameron McDonald) was in fact the Black Hood all along was one we did not see coming. I mean, Archie full on outlined the possibility, not only in episode 8, but throughout the season in which he was adamant that the individual, who shot his father, had green eyes. It is that exact statement that leads us to speculate that Riverdale's resident murderer is still at large. Svenson has brown eyes. Brown, not green. Let that sink in for a second, and remember, 'Riverdale' is a series that hardly ever lets such key details dissipate into nothingness. No, there's definitely something there, take it from us, a group of individuals who have practically grown up on The CW-esque TV shows; it was too tidy of an ending to a mid-season finale for the Black Hood to end up being Svenson. Our guess is that he's been a pawn for the real Black Hood all along.
If you need any more evidence to sway you, perhaps Betty not destroying all of the evidence or Jughead's narrative explaining, "this isn't over" as the final episode of 2017 came to a close, will suffice.
