'Riverdale', the teen TV series that's causing a global sensation is preparing itself for its most ambitious episode yet: a musical. The next episode, number 31, will be titled 'A Night to Remember' and for the most part, is a tribute to horror expert Stephen King: the cast will star in a stage adaption of 'Carrie', one of theatre's most successful shows based on the authors' novel.
As many of you will remember from the latest Riverdale episode, the lead in the play will be none other than Cheryl Blossom: "I'm obviously Riverdale High's Carrie White...and this school's gonna burn!", she declared. Alongside Cheryl, the rest of the characters will also be busy, some behind the scenes, like Kevin Keller who'll be directing the performance. The school's very own self-declared detective, Jughead Jones, will be elsewhere preoccupied trying to piece together who's been sending Cheryl death threats and why.
Josie McCoy will be joining Cheryl onstage as her co-star, while Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge and Archie Andrews will have minor roles. Despite that however, the spotlight will most definitely be on Cheryl, after the drama in the last episode, which saw her locked away at the hands of her mother and evil uncle Claudius, we can't think of anyone readier to take on Carrie White's telekinesis.
A high quality production
Ever since the beginning of season 2, majority of the Riverdale High students have been patiently awaiting the arrival of the musical and they're not the only ones! Details of the play have been kept pretty secret for now, although we do know that the showrunner, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Carrie super-fan, will be directing it. The showrunner adapted the screenplay for the 2013 film version of 'Carrie' that saw Chloë Grace Moretz take on the role of the protagonist, so the episode's in very capable hands!
'A Night to Remember' will be ready to stream on UK Netflix this 18th April.
