For most fans, Pokémon has been with us since childhood. It all started with the video games, but the franchise has since grown on a scale we never could have imagined, with all of the TV series, films and merchandising that surrounds the brand. The small creatures have slowly but surely become bigger and bigger, to the extent that they might be the most famous in the world.
One of the latest films in the franchise, 'Pokémon The Movie: I Choose You', is currently in cinemas, and most fans, many of whom grew up with the series, turned out to see it. They were met with a shocking, but upsetting, surprise however, for at one point in the film, when Ash manages to save Pikachu, the Pokémon speaks!
The whole scene doesn't really make any sense. Pikachu has never uttered a word throughout the length of the franchise, as opposed to Meowth, Team Rocket's Pokémon. In fact, the only thing we've ever heard Pikachu say is, 'pika pika', with it's adorably expressive eyes. So, as you can imagine, a cinema full of die-hard Pokémon fans weren't too pleased with Pikachu's recent speech. Thankfully, it turns out that the scene is from one of Ash's dreams, and that Pikachu never really spoke at all. Childhood = saved!
We'll catch you outside, Pikachu
The latest Pokémon craze wasn't a film, nor TV series, but a virtual reality game. 'Pokémon GO', was the first game of its kind, allowing users to go outside in their locality and catch their favourite Pokémons.
Whilst it was the first virtual reality game, it's by no means the last, for there's already plans for two 'Harry Potter' inspired games, one of which will be created by the same minds behind 'Pokémon GO'. There was also speculation that a 'Game of Thrones' game was in production, but it appears as though that project has taken a back seat for now.
