Peter Jackson is one of the most acclaimed directors in the industry, mainly down to his huge success with the 'The Lord of The Rings' trilogy. The saga was branded, both before and after the films were released, as one of the best films of it's type and it's safe to say many people would love to emulate such work since it's success. Jackson confesses that his inspiration comes from when he was very young, fascinated by big blockbusters which made him into who he is today.
It's this admiration for films that has led to the director designating a huge room in his house in which he displays his incredible collection of objects and costumes from throughout his career and the history of cinema. The proud Kiwi his friend showed Adam Savage (MythBusters) some of his props that he has collected over the years.
Savage has uploaded the video of his visit to see Jackson's momentos on his Youtube Tested channel. In the video, which you can see at the bottom of this article, the two have a friendly chat whilst looking at all sorts of objects from facial props used in 'The Planet of Apes', to a couple of dinosaurs and even a dalek from 'Doctor Who'.
The jewel in the crown
Although he has a very large collection, Jackson does have a favourite. The faceplate for the Hal 9000 computer from '2001: A Space Odyssey'. The video mainly centers around the eye of the supercomputer, which must have cost a fair few pennies for the filmmaker. Jackson also speaks about when he purchased it, he didn't have any idea how it worked because it all the parts were dismantled, but Savage managed to fix it for him when he visited him some time ago.
