The countdown has begun for the release of the latest film from Pixar, 'Onward', and a lucky few have already had the opportunity to see and review this family-friendly adventure, which has been met with positive reviews.
'Onward' takes place in a world once brimming with magic and revolves around two teenage elf brothers, Ian (Tom Holland) and Barley Lightfoot (Chris Pratt), who are given a wizard's staff to cast a spell that will bring back their late father for 24 hours. When the spell goes awry and the two brothers only manage to conjure up their father's legs, Ian and Barley have less than a day to find the remedy that will finally allow them to meet (the whole of) their father.
The reviews flooding in have been largely positive thus far, though there are some who, despite acknowledging that 'Onward' is a charming film in its entirety, expected that something more from Pixar and are critical of the film's simple storyline.
Onward is weird and ?wonderful? Consistently surprising, appropriately sweet, occasionally profound, perfectly Pixar.

My only complaints: (1) we don't get enough of the trash unicorns (2) it made me want to call my dad's legs?? #OnwardPixar #Onward pic.twitter.com/RkAKGe33NL
In a surprise to no one @Pixar has delivered yet another great film with #onward. 3rd act brought some tears. Congrats to @MrDanScanlon and everyone that worked on the film. Absolutely recommended. pic.twitter.com/lx45NUdtsY

If you're sensing Onward isn't quite up to the Pixar standard, you're right. It's beautiful & packs a huge emotional wallop but for the most part is a standard road trip adventure story that gets boosted by an excellent ending. It's good, not great & that's a letdown for Pixar. pic.twitter.com/zJaFx4LbN0

The Final Countdown
At the helm of 'Onward' is director Dan Scanlon who also worked alongside Pixar to direct 'Monsters University'. Scanlon is also behind the deeply personal screenplay for which he drew inspiration from his own life to create a story that acts both as a tribute to his father and a gift to his brother.
With many rave reviews rushing in and the promise of a deeply personal story, we're more excited than ever to watch 'Onward', which will hit our screens courtesy of Walt Disney Pictures on the 6th March.
