After seven crazy years of Jess, Nick, Winston, Schmidt and CeCe, 'New Girl' is finally coming to an end. In a new trailer for the seventh and final season, we see Nick on the receiving end of a punch, Schmidt sporting new facial hair and moving boxes in the apartment. It really hits home that the end's not far off, especially as the group come together to reminisce, and it's as clear as Day that the characters are about as reluctant as us to bid farewell, if Jess' "no, no, no..." is anything to go by.
As we reported earlier in the year, the new season will feature a time jump of three years, leaving a lot of things in the balance. Will Jess and Nick still be together, we wonder. At the end of the sixth season, the two characters admitted their feelings for one another, and, according to the promo at least, things seemed to have worked out for them. Season seven will pick up with CeCe and Schmidt, who are now parents to their three year old daughter, and we can't wait to see how the couple have adjusted to family life. For their part, Winston and Ally will be expecting a baby of their own. Despite everything having been wrapped up pretty neatly at the end of season six, there's still a lot to tackle.
Season seven will air on 10th April in the States and will feature just eight episodes with a two part finale set to air on 15th May. Damon Wayans Jr. as well as Dermot Mulroney, David Walton, Nelson Franklin, Sam Richardson, Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner will all be returning to reprise their roles for one last time. J.B. Smoove and Tig Notaro will also make appearances.
The end
Speaking to US Weekly, Max Greenfield revealed "For us, it's over. It is bittersweet. We had such a great run. We're so grateful and I guess, onto the next now," but did not rule out the possibility of a revival, stating there's "always a chance... I don't know what they would be doing together. Maybe they'd move back into the loft for fun!"
When asked about how the cast could keep in touch, Greenfield had the perfect response: "I'm just going to show up to Jake's house. I'm just going to show up on his doorstep and be like, «Hey man. You don't call. You don't write. And now I'm here». Or I'll kidnap him and take him over to Damon's house and we'll just show up! Or maybe the three of us will kidnap Lamorne and have like a 'Hangover' situation". Seems like the actor's not so different from his on-screen character after all.
