Netflix aren't willing to let go of one of their most successful international series just yet. The third season premiered last summer and the release of the fourth season is still pending, but thanks to our friends over at FormulaTV, we now know that 'Money Heist' will have a fifth season.

The story brought to us by Vancouver Media will continue, and though it is as of yet unknown just how many original cast members will wear the masks once more, Álvaro Morte is set to reprise his role as The Professor in the fifth series. Filming is scheduled to begin at the start of new year, although for the moment the crew has begun the process of preproduction.

Álvaro Morte will return as The Professor in the fifth season of 'Money Heist'

For now, these are all the details we have regarding the latest instalment about the Dalí-faced thieves that left us all open-mouthed with the cliffhanger of their attempt to rob the Bank of Spain in the third season. The series, created by Álex Pina, is set to return at the start of 2020. All fingers point to January, a mere half a year after the premiere of the third season, but this release date has yet to be confirmed by Netflix.

A worldwide success

The success of the third season of 'Money Heist' was, as expected, a huge success for the streaming platform. Netflix announced that, in its first week of being available for streaming, the new episodes garnered more than 34 million viewers, admittedly according to their own sources. The story has rocked the world, and it's likely that, this Halloween, we'll be able to see the effects of its success through the number of red jumpsuits and Dalí masks that will be out trick-or-treating.
