It all started with a 70s Swedish pop band, then it became one of the longest running hit musicals in the Westend, it finally made its way to the big screen back in 2008...and ten years after the first 'Mamma Mia' film, we have now been graced with a second installment in, what has now become, a worldwide musical franchise. And after fans were blown away by the phenomenal Lily James in 'Mamma Mia: Here we Go Again', the party just doesn't stop there...
The flared trousers, bright lights, platform shoes, checkered tablecloths, and all the musical numbers that you know by heart...everything related to this number one hit musical (and more) will soon come to life in a full-emersion live action experience. We are, of course, talking about the 'Mamma Mia' Party; an ABBA-themed restaurant in which you can submerge yourself in your favorite musical, all while enjoying exquisite food with friends - what more could you want? This amazing experience, an absolute utopia for fans of ABBA, enthusiasts of one of the most successful shows in the Westend, or lovers of the blockbuster film, starring Meryl Streep. It all began in Stockholm, but very soon you'll be able to enjoy the lot in London.
According to reports, this immersive experience, started in Sweden by Björn Ulvaeus, ex-musician of ABBA, will soon arrive in the English city in pride of place: the O2 arena, with the capacity for up to 500 diners per show. The party, which has been a phenomenal success in Switzerland for the past three years, will arrive next spring to the arena, in 2019. Until then, you can register on their website in order to access ticket sales when they become available to the public this autumn.
The Party Itself
A restaurant serving authentic Greek food will receive fans who, while they enjoy this excellent Mediterranean cuisine, will watch as the arena transforms into a disco full of light and colour, where the aim is to dance as if you were the dancing queen herself. All your favourite songs from the universally classic musical will star in the show and the songs won't stop while your food is being served. Sound good? We're already organizing our trip to London...
