The Fellowship didn't last as long as we all hoped, however the friendships that the actors from 'The Lord of The Rings' made are still going strong after 15 years.
The forever trusty and courageous Merry the hobbit, or referred to in the real world as Dominic Monaghan, shared some images on the social media platform Instagram showing his close friends from the trilogy reunited in a restaurant.
Monaghan, in charge of taking the photos for the night by the looks of it, was joined by his two hobbit friends in the form of the ring bearer himself Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) and his trustworthy companion, Pippin (Billy Boyd). They were also joined by two other heroes from the trilogy. Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), the former ranger and newly crowned King Elessar Telcontar of Gondor, and Legolas (Orlando Bloom), the Elf of the Woodland Realm, both joined their friends for a bite to eat and a catch up.
Take a look at the epic pictures below...
Monaghan makes reference to the trilogy in his captions of the images, speaking about the cave troll that the Fellowship encountered as they passed through Moria in the battle of The Chamber of Mazarbul in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring'. The actor also made reference to Boromir's quote before he died at the end of the first film when, in his last words, said to Aragorn "I would have followed you my brother. My captain. My king."
A trilogy to remember
The first installment of this legendary trilogy was released almost 15 years ago, and since then the films have racked up some incredibly impressive statistics. The films directed by Peter Jackson have managed to earn just under 3 million dollars in the global box office. Furthermore, the trilogy has won a total of 17 Oscars out of a total of 30 for which they have been nominated for. The third film, 'Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King', even won all of its 11 categories for which it was nominated for back at the 2004 Oscars. A true masterpiece that will no doubt last for many more years to come.
