Greta Gerwig's new film adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's 'Little Women' is underway in Boston, and she is counting on some of the best and most coveted faces in Hollywood. Saoirse Ronan ('Lady Bird') will be staring as Jo March, with the eldest March sister be played by Emma Watson ('Beauty and the Beast'), stepping in for Emma Stone only a few months ago. Eliza Scanlen ('Sharp Objects') will take the role of Beth and the youngest sister, Amy, will be played by Florence Pugh ('Outlaw King'). Also in this star-studded cast is Meryl Streep, as Aunt March, Timothée Chalamet ('Call Me By Your Name') as Laurie Laurence, and Laura Dern ('Wild') as Marmee. Finally, new images are beginning to emerge across social media, and for the first time we are able to see the protagonists in their full costumes.
In the photos from set we can see the four March sisters (Scanlen, Ronan, Watson, and Pugh) walking through the snow, linking arms, wrapped up in warm winter clothing.

The one who does not appear in any of these images in Chalamet. However, only a few weeks ago the actor shared a photo to Instagram showing his co-stars on set during rehearsals. It is a pretty blurry snapshot, which is unusual for the carefully curated feed the actor usually maintains.
It is certain that the new adaptation of 'Little Women' will be a success on a worldwide scale. Gerwig's triumph as a director has involved working previously with Ronan and Chalamet, and she is repeating the golden formula again. Filming commenced last month, in October, coinciding with the 180 year anniversary of Alcott's novel.
The Seventh 'Little Women'
The story focuses around four teenage girls who live in Massachusetts during the American Civil War. It has already come to our screens on six previous occasions, although the two most iconic versions are the 1933 George Cukor film, and the 1994 Gillian Armstrong film, with Winona Ryder, Susan Sarandon, Kirsten Dunst, and Christian Bale.
Gerwig's 'Little Women' will come to the big screen for Christmas 2019.
