With the latest instalment to the 'Star Wars' saga, 'Star wars: The Last Jedi' having only just released, 'Star Wars: Episode IX' seems a long way away. Although very little is known about the upcoming production, what we do know is that J.J. Abrams will be directing and that the legendary film composer, John Williams will be returning to join him. Williams' music for the saga has become so well-renowned that it's most definitely going to leave its mark on cinematic history. Given the composer's eagerness to work, it's clear nothing, not even age, can get in his way.

 John Williams

Williams, who is 86 years old and has worked on 'Star Wars' since 1977, wants to expand his legacy just that bit more. "I don't think you can retire from writing. I feel very lucky, and the work that I do doesn't depend on much. If your vision's still good, and your hands - I have no arthritis in my hands and I play the piano very easily - I don't think there's any reason to deprive oneself of the fun of working. Music is so rewarding", he told Variety.

Another Oscar?

The composer already has more than 60 years of experience in the industry and 50 academy nominations under his belt, yet he may still get to add to that. This year, Williams' work on 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' and Speilberg's 'The Post' have stood out significantly.

Upon speaking about the latter production, Williams mentioned, "I've never done anything quite like it. There are three or four montages with various degrees of intensity, speed and the like. And a couple of gentle scenes for the character of Kay Graham, treated musically a little more traditionally, perhaps".

'The Post' marks Williams' 28th collaboration with Steven Spielberg, which began with 'The Sugarland Express' in 1974. 'The Post' will hit UK cinemas on 19th January.
