Having only recently spoken out about 'Hobbs and Shaw', director, David Leitch is back with more details about the 'Fast & Furious' spin-off. The film's set to star Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, and the latest news is the most interesting yet.
Leitch first revealed how 'Hobbs and Shaw' won't be another 'Fast & Furious' spin-off, and now, the director has spoken to IGN about his excitement for the upcoming spin-off and why he can't wait for its release.
"There are these buddy movies from the 80s and 90s, like 'Lethal Weapon' and '48 hours' that really speak to me as a filmmaker. They're [buddy movies] ones that made me want to be a filmmaker in the first place. So to see the chemistry they [Johnson and Statham] had in the last 'Fast', and to see the potential that they could be...it was hard not to say yes, and say, «let's go do this»".
'Hobbs and Shaw' is set for release on 26th July 2019.
An interesting cameo
You promised Deadpool was in this. You said I get to play the no-nonsense Police Chief, who yells at Hobbs for crashing his 58 valve Nissan Sentra into an Olive Garden. Put me in coach.

Back in April, Leitch tweeted a news article in which he was revealed as the director for the spin-off. Ever the avid Twitter user, Ryan Reynolds quickly replied to the 'Deadpool' director, regarding a potential cameo. Will the spin-off be so different so as to include our favourite Marvel anti-hero? We guess we'll just have to wait and see!
