Our favorite demon returns to the big screen. 'Hellboy', the hero of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense that Guillermo del Toro adapted to the cinema twice, to return in the form of a reboot.
Millenium is in negotiations with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin for a new delivery that will restart and relaunch the return of 'Big Red'. Neil Marshall, the horror director for 'The Descent', who won praise for his work on 'Game of Thrones' series, is in charge of directing the project, which is called 'Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen'. The script is in the hands of Christopher Golden, Andrew Cosby, and the creator of 'Hellboy' comic, Mike Mignola.
The bad news of this new version of 'Hellboy' is that neither Guillermo del Toro nor Ron Perlman will be involved in anything that has to do with the return of the demon of the cigar in the mouth. David Harbour ('Stranger Things') is negotiating with the producer to play the red beast. Could this be the reason for not accepting the role of Cable in 'Deadpool 2'?
Even so, in the Hollywood Reporter, they have been cautious in giving out this information, noting that the new adaptation of the comic Mignola is a project that is still being prepared and that everything is being negotiated, although everything points to the final team is the mentioned above.
Will it work without del Toro?
The charismatic Mexican director is creator of incredible fantasy universes like 'Pan's Labyrinth' or 'Pacific Rim'. 'Hellboy' was one of the films that propelled his Hollywood career, Del Toro co-wrote and directed this first adaptation of the comic book in 2004 with a timid collection at the box office. And something similar happened to 'Hellboy 2: The Golden Army', when his box office was interrupted by the second installment of 'Batman' by Christopher Nolan.
But both films and the concept of the 'Hellboy' universe in the head of the Mexican director engendered numerous loyal fans who hoped that this series of films would close with the trilogy directed by Del Toro. But it was not so, either by budget or by artistic differences we will not be able to see this adaptation, that sincerely, the fans of 'Hellboy' waited for.
