Ever since Disney bought the 'Star Wars' franchise they have not stopped releasing new films, the latest one being 'Han Solo: A Star Wars Story'. The film centers around the captain of the Millennium Falcon, but we can also enjoy a brief appearance from Darth Maul, the character played by Ray Park, who fans consider a favorite villain in 'Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace'. His cameo in the film was not only a surprise for the franchise's followers, but also for one of the main actors: Ewan McGregor.
The actor, who during the first three films (chronologically speaking) played the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, "went bonkers" when he recognized the voice of Park as Darth Maul during the premiere of the the film. According to Cinemablend, Park claims: "I was scared and nervous. Because Ewan was seated right beside me. When you hear Maul speak for the first time, Ewan knew it was me. And he's just like 'Yeah, yeah, yeah! Well done!' and I'm like 'I want to see myself!' But it was so nice for him to be like that with me. And to hear that reaction in the movie theater". Park admits that McGregor's reaction was so extreme that he was barely even able to see his brief appearance in the scene.
Beyond the films
Although the characters of Obi-Wan and Darth Maul have only been seen on screen as enemies, in 'Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace', the relationship between the characters goes beyond the big screen in an animated series, also created by Lucasfilm, in which their story is developed: 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' and 'Star Wars Rebels'.
'Han Solo: A Star Wars Story' will be available for physical purchase or download from the 26th September.
