'Game of Thrones' featured a lot on the night of the 2016 Emmys. Since the exciting evening a few nights ago, 'Game of Thrones' has won nine awards in the technical and creative categories. On the night of September 18th they finally added five awards and finally outperform 'Frasier' as the most awarded show in the history of the Emmys.
Yes, 'Game of Thrones' has gone and broke another record.
This year, 'Game of Thrones' has taken home three Emmy awards: best drama series, best director of a drama series for 'The Battle of the Bastards' and best drama script for this chapter. Which have all helped overcome 'Fraiser', whose previous record of 37 Emmys was finally beaten by the 38 of 'Game of Thrones'
If we had to pick a single highlight of the David Benioff and D. B. Weiss' series it would be 'The Battle of the Bastards', we know how much money it has cost, and how spectacular it is. Two of the Emmy's that 'Game of Thrones' won were due to this episode.
After the showrunners collected their prizes, have stated backstage during filming of this season: "(next season) will be bigger. It will be much better. Maybe somethings will be worse. But over all, it will be better," said D.B. Weiss excited. We will have to pay attention because he is the one who knows how 'Game of Thrones' will continue. We have every faith in them because after what we saw at the end of season six, a new series in 2017, 'Game of Thrones' will only continue to improve.
Will there be any spin-offs?
From the start one of the most prominent questions surrounding 'Game of Thrones' is whether the show runners are considering a spin-off. "You should ask George about it. He's creating an amazing and very rich world. I'm sure there will be another series set in the West, but for us, this is it," said Benioff backstage at the Emmys. George RR Martin, whom was present, wanted to answer the question, "I have thousands of pages of fiction stories regarding all that surrounds 'Game of Thrones', so there is a lot of material and I'm still writing more, but for the now I have this series and have two books to finish, so this is all I can really speculate so far" says George RR Martin. None of those responsible for fiction have ruled out that the series may continue with any of the side characters as the protagonist, so for now, we're just sitting and hoping.
