It seems too good to be true, but the fourth season of 'Silicon Valley' premiered on the 23rd of this month, and it seems that it was yesterday when we first saw these television nerds. The new series of chapters arrives, and we take the opportunity to tell you how the panorama of our beloved characters will be.
But first, let's think a bit about what this show has achieved. It looked like it was going to be an HBO product for a very small audience, as opposed to large blockbuster movies that, while purportedly cult, seem made for a much wider audience.
However, other series about "special" characters (such as 'Freaks and Geeks', 'The Big Bang Theory', 'The IT Crowd' or 'Community') have done what they want and have achieved a wider range
Perhaps it has to do with the fact that, today, terms like "nerd", "freak" or "geek" are a much more accepted than in the past. And, what the hell, we can even be proud of the names with those ratings!
Of course, the fans of the series (among which I include myself), will agree that 'Silicon Valley' has many more positives than negatives. Part of the reason for that is the talent of Mike Judge, who has made us laugh for decades with works like the brilliant 'Beavis & Butt-Head' or the underrated 'King of the Hill'.
One of those positive aspects we mentioned are, without a doubt, the characters. Whether they are pathetic, funny or hateful, we have no choice but to love them. They are stereotypes, but they are so well sketched that, at the same time, they do not resemble anything we have seen before. That is one of the strongest points of the series. But surely everyone knows already, so, without further ado, let's see what awaits you in the fourth season of 'Silicon Valley'.
Reinvent or die
Unfortunately, we're all just human, and the fact it takes an exact year to release each new batch of episodes means we often forget what has previously occurred, so we have to refresh our memory. The most important thing to remember is that Elrich and "Big Head" are back with Pied Piper; Now turned into a promising video chat application.
But... does that mean that everything is going well? We are not sure that it is so for Richard, because, just when his comrades mutiny, the boy decides to resign. For what? Let's say after talking to an old acquaintance, Richard has a revelation: he plans to build a new Internet.
Speaking of old acquaintances, one of the most positive aspects of this new season is that we will see characters very dear to the audience, who will return to action in the series. Along with a plethora of new talent. Because the show, much like Richard, must reinvent or die.
As for Erlich, he will continue to try to thrive and be that born leader who believes so much. But it will not be easy, because Dinesh also believes that this is his moment, and they will fight for the power. Setting Gilfoyle and "Big Head" aside, the derision and drama are more than assured.
But it may be that Jared is the saddest of the group to see Richard leave the ship, and will likely be in the dilemma of letting his former boss access the resources of Pied Piper. Finally, when Gavin Belson believes he has it all under control, Jack Barker is starting to dishearten him, and he will have to find a way to stop him urgently.
Thus, the future of Pied Piper will be much more complicated than it seems. The video chat looks good, but the boys must choose a new CEO among them.
The third season, generally, maintained a high level of quality, and hopefully this next one does not disappoint us.
Of course, I can say that the first chapter begins with a lot of force, and it hooks us again. However, the next two installments do not have as much energy, trying to lay the groundwork for other episodes that hopefully have a lot more packaging. Be that as it may, we will continue to enjoy this series, rejoicing in the good news of this gang, and suffering with its misfortunes, which are not few and far between.
