'The Crimes of Grindelwald' will take place just a few months after the events of the first film. In the latter production, we saw Gellert Grindelwald arrested by the Magical Congress of the USA with the help of Newt Scammander (Eddie Redmayne). In the upcoming film, Grindelwald has managed to escape and plans to continue with his original plan of gaining followers to end the International Statue of Wizarding Secrecy. In order to put a stop to him, Newt will find himself teaming up with his former Professor, a young Dumbledore (Jude Law). Will they manage to pull it off?
Controversy
Despite its huge success, the new film, set in the 'Harry Potter' universe, hasn't been without controversy. Many fans were angered when Johnny Depp managed to retain his role as Grindelwald in the film after his ex-wife accused him of domestic violence. On top of that, J.K. Rowling and David Yates have both confirmed that there won't be much of a focus on Dumbledore's sexuality. The character supposedly nurtured a relationship with Gellert Grindelwald and fans were looking forward to seeing it portrayed on screen.
