After Disney announced plans, a few months ago, to release its own new streaming platform, Disney+, to rival the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime, news about new projects and series for the site have not stopped coming. We already know that they are planning several 'Star Wars' based series, one of them already has a title, 'The Mandalorian', as well as some based in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Disney Chief Executive, Bob Iger, recently explained that the company hopes to focus on "television series on a per-episode business", rather than high budget films, and to add to the list of upcoming projects, is a new comedy series named 'Four Dads'.

According to reports from The Hashtag Show, this new sitcom will focus on the story of a divorced gay couple, Ethan and Sebastian, who have remarried new partners. The dads and stepdads will have to deal with the struggles of parenting their teenage daughters while adapting to this new family situation. This show will be Disney's first ever LGBT series, written and produced by Rick Wiener ('Modern Family') and Kenny Schwartz ('Family Guy').

Rumours have it that the show will be based upon real events in Schwartz's own life and will have short episodes of 30 minutes each. The cast has not yet been announced, but there are again some rumours that they are looking at Cheyenne Jackson from 'American Horror Story' and '30 Rock' for the role of one of the fathers.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

It is high time that Disney broadened its representation; this will be the first Disney project ever to focus on not one, but two gay married couples. Their first ever openly gay character was recently introduced in the popular series 'Andi Mack'. There are also strong campaigns online to make Elsa the first lesbian princess in 'Frozen 2', although the studio has yet to respond to these demands.

As of yet there is no more information about the new LGBT show, but for now we can celebrate this new step towards diversity on screen!
