Fans of 'Digimon' are in the hour of celebration. Almost 20 years after the anime's release, it has been announced that in 2019 another film about the adventures of this group of friends and their digital world will be released. There is just one small difference: the main characters have now grown up and are young adults. A Japanese magazine has revealed the characters' new looks and the internet is blowing up.

You don't need to know Japanese nor read the captions for each character in order to be able to tell them apart, you only need to have seen the anime once to instantly recognise them all. The one who catches our attention first is Tai, the anime's protagonist, with his iconic hairstyle and glasses atop his head. To his left is Matt: taller, but just as blonde as ever.
The majority of the characters have maintained their signature looks, which helps us to instantly regonise Sora, Mimi, and Joe. The biggest surprise here is the little ones of the group: Izzy, who is now dressed in full suit and tie, and Kari and TK, who are both now all grown up, alongside their friends. As well as the physical changes, supposedly that have also matured a little as well: what will their friendship be like now?
Everything We Know About the Return
It is expected that the film will be coming to cinemas in 2019 for the 20th anniversary of the first season of the anime, with Toei Animation. For now, the only detail that we know with regards to the story is that the protagonists are currently 22 years old. Additionally, production is counting on some rather well-known names, including Seki Hiromi ('Dragon Ball Z'), Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru ('Dragon Ball'), and Kenji Watanabe as the supervisor and character designer.
