Following the news that Fox had dismissed Bryan Singer from his role as director on the upcoming Queen biopic titled, 'Bohemian Rhapsody', comes news that Dexter Fletcher is to replace him. The latter director has worked on films such as 'Eddie the Eagle' and 'Wild Bill', and is possibly due to direct a biopic on Elton John.
There are only 2 weeks left of filming for 'Bohemian Rhapsody' which will resume shortly. Production was forced to come to a halt recently because former director Bryan Singer failed to return to work after the Thanksgiving break. Fletcher's career began as an actor in films like 'Kick-Ass' and 'Stardust', both directed by Matthew Vaughn, with whom the former is well linked.
Just two weeks
According to Deadline, Fox didn't offer the role as director to just anyone, clearly conscious that the film required an individual with the know-how to wrap up filming. The website has also reported that it's unlikely Fletcher will get official credit for his work on the film, given that Singer had completed majority of the directing before his exit.
'Bohemian Rhapsody' is set for release in December 2018, and for now, despite the unforeseen setback, it appears as though production is very much on track.
