Only a few days have passed since the release of the latest 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' trailer and yet, that hasn't stopped its co-writer and executive producer, Colin Trevorrow, from speaking out about his involvement in 'Jurassic World 3' and where he'd like to see the franchise heading in the future.
Trevorrow, who directed the 2015 success 'Jurassic World' that rebooted the 'Jurassic Park' franchise will be returning to the directing seat for the third instalment. According to Movieweb, Trevorrow is returning to give the franchise a little nudge in the direction of the original 'Jurassic Park'.
"If I could contextualise each film, I would say 'Jurassic World' was an action adventure, 'Fallen Kingdom' is kind of a horror suspense film, and 'Jurassic World 3' will be a science thriller in the same way that 'Jurassic Park' was".
Trevorrow's return comes after Steven Spielberg, director of the original films and executive producer of the most recent additions requested the talent take charge of the third film in the trilogy.
"Steven Spielberg asked me [to direct], and when he asks you, what can I tell you, man? In all honesty, over my past few years, I've grown to love and cherish the value of the gift that I've been given with this franchise".
What can we expect from 'Jurassic World 3'?
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will each be returning to reprise their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, respectively. The director also mentioned how, "there's other characters who we'll meet in Fallen Kingdom you'll realise are major characters", possibly hinting that we'll get to see a few of their faces in the third film. As for now, fans are most looking forward to the return of Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcolm in 'Fallen Kingdom'. Could you imagine a better way to end the trilogy than with a return of the original cast: Laura Dern's Ellie Sattler and Sam Neill's Alan Grant?
The three haven't worked together since the first 'Jurassic Park' film back in 1993 although Dern and Neill did reunite in 'Jurassic Park III'. We have a long wait ahead of us to find out whether the 'Jurassic World' trilogy will get the ending we so passionately desire, for, the second film 'Fallen Kingdom' is still yet to release. 'Jurassic World 3' is set for a June 2021 release.
'Fallen Kingdom' hits UK cinemas on 6th June.
