'Blade Runner 2049' will hit cinemas in less than 2 weeks. It is one of the most anticipated films of the year and fans of the original flick cannot wait to see director, Denis Villeneuve's work on this installment. Today we saw some of the first reactions to the film, and needless to say they've left us on the edges of our seats.
Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, who wrote the script, have set the film just over thirty years after the original, which took place in 1982. The plot will continue the initial story written by Fancher and David Peoples, based on the novel by Philip K. Dick. Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas and Jared Leto make up only a selection of the famous faces we'll see in this sequel.
Steven Weintraub said, "You don't have to have seen the original 'Blade Runner' in order to see 'Blade Runner 2049'. Obviously, you'll understand the film better if you have seen it."
Majority of the critics have been quite composed, more than can be said for those on Twitter.
Everyone bow down to Denis Villeneuve. He's done the impossible and delivered a huge home run with 'Blade Runner 2049'. Loved it. pic.twitter.com/fjhAJgnwqT

.@BladeRunner 2049 is phenomenal. Visually mind-blowing sci-fi w/ noir roots shining through in a tight, twisty mystery. Best of 2017 so far pic.twitter.com/kT4ZzWWlOQ

The fascination with bringing back old classics
We live in a world where the film industry can't quit bringing us remakes or sequels to some of cinema's greatest motion pictures. That said, everything so far seems to suggest that 'Blade Runner 2049' will achieve as much success as the recent remake of Stephen King's 'It'. There's still a few remakes to come this year including, 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi', 'Murder on the Orient Express', and 'Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle'.
Is there a sequel or remake you'd like to see soon?
