It was just last Friday (16th March) that shooting for the second season of one of TV's most successful series kicked off. Yes, you heard it right, 'Big Little Lies' season 2 is in the works and the main cast are sharing posts celebrating the feat.
The first to share an image was actress Laura Dern, who uploaded a post of herself and Reese Witherspoon. The two are sat outside the famous café where the characters often gather to discuss their secrets.
With almost identical captions, Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz also couldn't hold in their excitement for what's to come in the series. Woodley uploaded a photo of herself with brunette locks (as opposed to her former red hair) whilst Kravitz shared one taken on set. Both confirmed that their characters, Jane Chapman and Bonnie Carlson, respectively are returning.
The upcoming season will air next year, under the direction of 'American Honey' director, Andrea Arnold. The show's former director, Canadian, Jean Marc Vallée, wasn't up for a second season. David E. Kelley will return script write and he'll also direct the seventh episode of the season.
The most anticipated signing
Adam Scott, James Tupper and Jeffrey Nordling have all signed up for a second season, however the signing that took us most by surprise, has been that of Meryl Streep. The multi-award winning actress will play Mary-Lous Wright, Celeste's (Nicole Kidman) former mother-in-law.
Reese Witherspoon excitedly revealed how she heard about the news: "She sent an email to Nicole and I. And it said, «OK, I read the part and I love it and I'm going to do it». And I like dropped the phone, like mic drop, but I phone dropped. And then I called Nicole and I was like, «Is this real life? Is this really happening?» And then I got off the phone with Nicole and I, like, hugged myself gently for a minute and said, «This is really happening. You're really working with Meryl Streep»".
