The awards seasons has well and truly kicked off. After the Golden Globe Awards, which showed 'La La Land' as the big triumpher, and it seems that Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling could count their trophies as if they were the stars under which they danced. However, the film is not going to make history from just one good gala performance, instead Damien Chazelle's film aspires to now go even further with the next step in the form of the BAFTA awards.
The nominations, which were announced by the 'Preacher' star Dominic Cooper and 'Game of Thrones' actress Sophie Turner, resulted in the musical becoming a big favourite with eleven nominations for the British Academy of Film and Television awards. Close by we can find the likes of 'Arrival' and 'Nocturnal Animals', both with nine nominations, and a little further back with six nominations we find 'Manchester by the Sea'.
Other films that have further been nominated for a number of awards include 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them', 'Hacksaw Ridge', 'Lion' and 'I, Daniel Blake', all with five nominations to their names. Going further down the list with four nominations each we can find 'Moonlight', as well as 'Florence Foster Jenkins'. The ceremony will take place on 12th February in the Royal Albert Hall, London, and will be presented by the one and only Stephen Fry.
