News of the upcoming, standalone 'Aquaman' film gets better and better each time we hear of it and it's all for good reason; Warner Bros and DC Comics need the film to be a success if they're to continue with their extended universe. The latest film in the franchise, 'Justice League', wasn't exactly received with open arms so it's no surprise that director, James Wan, is pulling out all the stops for the upcoming instalment.
The director, who was also responsible for 'Fast & Furious 7', announced via his personal Twitter account that actor, Randall Park would be participating in the upcoming film as Dr Shin. The character is a scientist and friend to Tom Curry, who helps Arthur Curry (Aquaman) come to grips with his powers.
So happy and fortunate to be finally working with this man, @parkrandall, on pickups. #DrShin pic.twitter.com/q95PFEUSC2

Park has also worked for the competition, given that we'll see him in Marvel's 'Ant-Man and the Wasp'. In 'Aquaman', the actor will be joined by Jason Momoa as the eponymous superhero, Amber Heard as Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Patrick Wilson as Orm/ Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Nicole Kidman as Aquaman's mother and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko.
A secretive storyline
For the most part, the storyline for the film has been kept a secret and many can understand why: DC made a mistake with 'Justice League' by revealing certain plot lines before the film had even released. According to Heroic Hollywood, the film will be told from the perspective of the villain, Black Manta who'll be seeking revenge.
In other 'Aquaman' news, Amber Heard recently shared a photo via Instagram of herself on set for the film's reshoots.
The film hits UK cinemas on 21st December.
