In this world we find ourselves in, one day you can be at your absolute peak and the next you have hit rock bottom. This harsh reality is present in the world of cinema thanks to two completely different awards ceremonies. One celebrates the best films and performances each year, in the form of the Oscars, where as the other celebrates the not so good ones in the form of the Golden Raspberry Awards or also known as the Razzies.
The not so prestigious Razzie awards take place the night before the Academy Award ceremony itself and has grown in popularity over the years. As you can imagine, the award ceremony doesn't go down too well with the actors who win the awards and in some cases they don't turn up to the ceremony, however there have been examples where the recipients take the joke and enjoy it.
So, from one end of the spectrum to the other, we have found 10 actors and actresses who have had the privilege of being in possession of both Oscar and a Razzie.
1 Sandra Bullock
When she heard she had been nominated for a Razzie for her role in 'All About Steve', Sandra Bullock promised that if she won would collect the award herself. The actress came to the ceremony armed with copies of the film on DVD to give out to the audience. "Everyone gets a copy and this is the deal I'm going to make" she told the cheering crowd. "I will show up next year if you promise to watch the movie and really consider if it was truly the worst performance. If you're willing to watch, I'll come back next year and give back the Razzie." Less than 24 hours later, the actress won the Best Actress award for her part in 'The Blind Side'.
2 Kevin Costner
One actor with one of the highest Razzie nominations is Kevin Costner. He has been nominated seven times and out of those has won three for his performances in 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves', 'The Postman' and 'Wyatt Earp'. Costner hasn't got an Oscar for his acting but he has won an Oscar for Best Picture and Best Director in 'Dances with Wolves' in 1990.
3 Halle Berry
Two years after winning an Oscar for her part in 'Monster's Ball', Halle Berry received the Razzie for Worst Actress for 'Catwoman'. The actress accepted the award in person and gave a funny speech. According to Berry, she was joined by her mother at the ceremony who has always told her that if you don't know how to be a good loser, you won't be a good winner.
4 Laurence Olivier
The legendary actor Laurence Olivier won an Oscar for his role in 'Hamlet' (1948) and is considered to be one of the greatest actors of all time, receiving ten Oscar nominations in total and winning two. However, he also had the honour of having won a Razzie for his supporting role in 'The Jazz Singer' in 1981 and another for worse actor in 'Inchon' (1983).
5 Liza Minnelli
Liza Minelli won the Oscar for Best Actress in her memorable part in the 1972 film 'Cabaret'. In 1988 she received the Razzie for not one but two films: 'Rent-a-Cop' and 'Arthur 2'.
6 Ben Affleck
In 1997, at the young age of 25, Ben Affleck snatched up his first Oscar along with Matt Damon for Best Original Screenplay for 'Good Will Hunting'. Following that, the actor made a few bad career decisions that lead to him to being gifted with three Razzie awards in 2003 for his roles in 'Daredevil', 'Gigli' and 'Paycheck'. Affleck got his career back on track after that and won his second Oscar thanks to his part in the 2013 film 'Argo' which walked away with the Best Film award. However, the Golden Raspberry Awards weren't done with him yet as he was honour with another Razzie in 2015.
7 Brad Pitt
For this successful sex symbol of the 90s, his acting skills were often overlooked and as a result he may not have been taken as seriously as he deserved. For a few people his first successful role, which lead to an Oscar nomination, was in 'Twelve Monkeys' (1996) and helped to forget about the Razzie he received along with Tom Cruise for the film 'Interview with the Vampire' (1995). However, to this day that is the only Razzie that the actor has to his name and since then Pitt has flourished. He has been nominated for Best Actor two times in 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' and 'Moneyball' and in 2014 won his first Oscar as a producer for '12 Years a Slave'.
8 Nicole Kidman
The Australian actress won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role as Virginia Woolf in 'The Hours'. Three years later, Kidman was gifted with the Razzie for Worst Screen Couple, alongside Will Ferrell, for the film 'Bewitched'.
9 Eddie Redmayne
Eddie Redmayne rightfully won an Oscar in 2015 for his brilliant performance as Stephen Hawking in 'The Theory of Everything'. A year later he was also nominated for Best Actor for his role in 'The Danish Girl', however he would also find himself in possession of a Razzie that year for his part in 'Jupiter Ascending'.
10 Roberto Benigni
Benigni surprised the world by winning the Oscar for Best Actor in 1999 for 'Life is Beautiful'. Later on in 2002, he was presented with three Razzie's for 'Pinnocchio' which included worst actor, worst film and worst screen couple along with Nicoletta Braschi.
