You Will Be a Man

Based on the moving true story of the mountaineer David Tait, 'Sulphur and White' explores how childhood trauma can continue to resonate years later and the importance of love to survival.

When David (Mark Stanley, 'Game of Thrones', 'White House Farm') meets Vanessa (Emily Beecham, 'Into the Badlands', 'Berlin, I Love You'), his life seems to be fall into place. A successful trader in the cut-throat finance world, he conquered his professional life long ago and, with Vanessa, is ready to take on his personal life, too, and begin a family.

However, despite his love for Vanessa, David hides a secret from her and from everyone around him regarding the awful psychological and sexual abuse he suffered as a child at the hands of his father (Dougray Scott, 'Batwoman', 'Sea Fever'). When his mother, Joanne (Anna Friel, 'Marcella', 'Deep Water'), tracks him down and his repressed memories start to bubble up again, David must make the choice to seek help and accept the support and love of Vanessa if he wants to process the trauma and move on with his life.
