The main actor, Rady Gamal, is a leprosy survivor and has very clear illness-effects in his body.

The movie is based on the real leprosy colony Abu Zaabal in Egypt, in which around 1500 people live.

The writer and director decided that the main character should be a Christian because of the relationship between this religion and leprosy.

It was the movie selected by Egypt to represent the country in 91st Oscars.

"Yomeddine" means "Judgment Day" in Arabic.

The movie crew comes from several nationalities: the DP is Argentinian and the composer is American.
