The Coffin in the Mountain

The story is located in a small village in the Chinese mountains. When a coffin holding a dead corpse inside appears nearby, an investigation begins in order to find out what has occurred. This investigation will join together the lives of different characters in this film that treats the topic of the oppressive provincial life in China, and human being's need to be free. Zongyao (Wang Xiaotian) will be one of these characters, a young son of a local chief who needs release from his parents' life and to find his own path. His fate will be dramatically twisted and he will become a part of this kaleidoscopic and suffocating story.

Directed by Yukun Xin, this was his opera prima and obtained various prizes in Asia, apart from prizes and special mentions in Vecine and Warsaw Film Festivals.
