Hans Zimmer decided to quit doing superhero films after working on others like 'Batman', 'Superman', 'Wonder Woman' y 'Spider-Man', but Simon Kingberg conviced him to work on 'Dark Phoenix'

1992

The movie takes place in 1992. This is also the year in which the X-Men cómics were re-launched with a new visual design and a new cartoon show.

Directorial debut

The film is the directorial debut for screenwriter Simon Kinberg.

No more Wolverine

This is going to be the first X-Men movie that will not include Wolverine/Logan or his actor: Hugh Jackman. The main reason is because Jackman retired from this role, in which he invested 17 years straight. Despite this, he made it into 'Deadpool 2' with a short cameo made with recycled footage from 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'.

Natural look

Simon Kinber was inspired by X-Men film 'Logan' by making 'Dark Phoenix' look less stylish and more natural.

ex-husband

It was rumored that Angelina Jolie was being considered for the Lilandra role. Surprisingly, his ex-husband Brad Pitt was also being considered to play The Vanisher in 'Deadpool 2', but not for so long....

Genosha

Simon Kingberg speaks about Genosha as the Israel Magneto knows: "It's a land built for mutants, a homeland where they can be safe and self-sufficient."

Always together

'Dark Phoenix' will premiere in the same year as its spin-off 'The New Mutants". Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, who play the Stark sisters in 'Game of Thrones', will participate again in the same saga because Maisie Williams will play Wolfsbane in the spin-off and Sophie Turner will play Dark Phoenix.

The end of the franchise?

It's rumored that 'Dark Phoenix' will be the end of the X-Men's original franchise and it will get a reboot from the start when it will be absorbed by Disney and Marvel Studios.

First Marvel movie

This is the first Marvel movie for Jessica Chastain. Previously she had rejected the roles of Maya Hansen in 'Iron Man 3' and Hope Van Dyne in 'Ant-Man'.

Return to evil

Like we've seen in other films as Superman III or Spider-Man 3, this movie follow a super-hero that has fallen to her dark side and turns evil. This is, in fact, the second film in which Jean Grey succumbs to her dark side and turns into Dark Phoenix.

Third collaboration

Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy have worked together in 'The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them', 'X-Men: Dark Phoenix' and 'It: Chapter 2'.
