Woman of the Photographs

The main character, Hai (Hideki Nagai), is a misogynistic photographer who discovers what it is like to fall in love a woman for the first time in his life when he meets Kyoko (Itsuki Otaki). She is a model with a large scar on her collarbone, which greatly affects her self-esteem. All this leads to a totally distorted view of her own identity. Kai and Kyoko work together and he digitally retouches her images, improving all her imperfections to change the model's perception of herself. As the film's slogan says: "A good lie can make people happy".

This mixture of drama, horror and comedy is written and directed by Takeshi Kushida, who was behind the camera for the short film 'Reincarnation'. In addition to Hideki Nagai ('Kantai') and Itsuki Otaki ('Perusepone no namida'), the cast includes other stars such as Toki Koinuma ('Can't Stop Dancing') and Toshiaki Inomata. The latter played the role of Takashi Kimura in 'Drive My Car', winner of the Oscar 2022 Award for Best International Film and nominated for three more Academy Awards in the categories of Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Director for Ryûsuke Hamaguchi.
