Plot
Ana was born in the São Miguel island, in the middle of the Athlantic Ocean, a land lead by religion and traditions. Ana starts to realize as she grows up, in a family of three with her mother and grandmother, that boys and girls don't get assigned the same tasks. Thanks to her friendship with Luis, her queer best friend who's not afraid of wearing dresses or pants, she starts to question the world that surrounds them. When her friend Cloé comes back from Canada and brings with her a radiant youth, Ana embarks in a valuable journey that will take her beyond the horizon.
'Wolf & Dog' is a powerful portrait of the queer community of São Miguel island, an ode to fluid gender, that turns intolerance into kindness for a generation that fights to survive. Directed by Portuguese filmmaker Cláudia Varejão, who little by little captures the public with oniric work that mix reality and fiction, like 'Ama-San', an homage to a Japanese fisherwomen community, and 'Amor-Fati', a portrait of couples that defy social conventions. She's also worked as director of photography and camera. She co-writes the script with Leda Cartum ('Llámame Bruna').
The cast is made by young actors in their cinematographic debut: Ana Cabral, Ruben Pimenta, Cristina Branquinho, Marlene Cordeiro, João Tavares, Nuno Ferreira, Mário Jorge Oliveira, Luísa Alves and Maria Furtado.
