Info

Plot

This romantic drama tells the tragic story of the redemption of María (Emma Suárez), a fifty-five-year-old civil servant who rethinks her future when she is diagnosed with a serious illness. Against the recommendations of the doctor and her family, but thanks to the support of her friends, she dares to make a trip to Greece with them and their partners. Although they initially stay in Athens, the three women will end up making a getaway without the men. It will be in this adventure where Maria will finally find a haven of peace and calm on the small and paradisiacal island of Nisyros. There she will find the beauty of the fascinating nature of the place, as well as with herself, when she meets Stefanos (Akilas Karafisis), a natural Greek from the island that she will fall in love with. However, her son (Gaizka Ugarte) will go for her mother to return to Bilbao to receive her treatment, while Maria only wants to rebuild her life after losing her husband and taking advantage of the time she has left. 'A window to the sea' is an ode to life, to that spirit of carpe diem, to seize the moment, when the world seems to have conspired against you. It is directed by the filmmaker Miguel Ángel Jiménez and was presented at the San Sebastian Film Festival in 2019.
