Plot
Based on a best-seller book published in 2012. This is the story of Bernadette Fox, a woman from Seattle. She is married and the mother of a girl. She has everything a person can possibly desire, a full life. One day, for no apparent reason, she disappears. But there is a reason for it: she has a new job, an investigation. This will be the moment when her husband and daughter will have to venture out to find her and solve the mystery behind it.
The film is directed by Richard Linklater ('Waking Life', 'A Scanner Darkly') and written by him and Holly Gent ('Me and Orson Welles'). It is starred by Cate Blanchett ('Carol', 'Blue Jasmine', 'The Aviator'), Judy Greer ('Halloween', 'Ant-Man and the Wasp', 'Arrested Development'), Kristen Wiig ('Saturday Night Live', 'The Last Man on Earth', 'Ghostbusters'), Troian Bellisario ('Pretty Little Liars', 'Pleased to Meet You', 'Feed'), Billy Crudup ('The Morning Show', '20th Century Women', 'The Stanford Prison Experiment'), Steve Zahn ('Valley of the Boom', 'War for the Planet of the Apes', 'Dallas Buyers Club'), Claudia Doumit ('How to Be a Vampire', 'Losing in Love', 'The Boys') and Laurence Fishburne ('Running with the Devil', 'Last Flag Flying', 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'), among other actors.

Trivia
Greenland
At one point during the shoot, the production was going to resort to 'green screen' for some of the arctic scenes, but when Cate Blanchett insisted on authenticity, the production moved to Greenland.
An adapted version
It's based upon the novel of the same name by Maria Semple.
Link to 'Apocalypse Now'
Bernadette refers to Dr. Kurtz, the Judy Greer character, as "Colonel Kurtz" at one point. Colonel Kurtz was the enigmatic figure in the film "Apocalyse Now" in which Laurence Fishburne, who plays Bernadette's former colleague Paul Jellinek, had a part as Tyrone 'Clean' Miller, the youngest member on the boat.
