When Fall Is Coming

Michelle is an older woman who lives her retirement peacefully in a small village in Burgundy, France, and she also lives near her lifelong friend, Marie-Claude. When autumn vacation arrives, Michelle eagerly and excitedly awaits the visit of her daughter and grandson; her daughter, Valérie, is coming to see her, but with the idea that she will take care of Lucas for the entire week of vacation.

However, nothing goes as they had planned, as a dish of toxic wild mushrooms ends up changing their plans. Could it have been an accident? Doubts hover over the family, and everything becomes even more complicated when Pierre, Marie-Claude's son, is released from prison.

This is a psychological thriller that analyzes the darkness that human relationships can reach and what one might do to change things. Directed and written by François Ozon ('Young and Beautiful' and 'Frantz') and starring Hélène Vincent, Josiane Balasko, Ludivine Sagnier, and Pierre Lottin, the film is part of the Official Section of the 72nd edition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival. This is the sixth time the award-winning French filmmaker has been in the running for the Golden Shell, which he previously won, along with the Jury Prize for Best Screenplay, with the feature film 'In the House'.
