Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy

'Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy' is about three stories about the chance and imagination of three female characters. An unexpected love triangle, a failed seduction trap and an encounter arising from a misunderstanding bring these three women together. Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, director of the film, said: "These three stories were conceived as the first three in a series of seven stories with the theme of 'coincidence and imagination'. The subject of coincidence has always interested me. Representing coincidence is a way of considering the exceptional as the essence of the world, rather than the real. When creating a work with that title, I understood that history opens up to endless unexpected possibilities. I hope you enjoy being surprised by the unexpected that the world offers us". The cast includes actors Kotone Furukawa, Kiyohiko Shibukawa, Katsuki Mori, Ayumu Nakajima... The feature was presented at the Berlin Film Festival and won the Silver Bear - Grand Jury Prize. The Guardian has opined that "this trio of stories is elegant and entertaining, with a delicate touch and a true and imaginative warmth. The narratives saunter along lightly but fundamentally seriously, asking us to consider how the paths we take in life can be governed by the merest chance".
