Waldo

'Waldo' is a documentary that tells the biography of the talented Argentine composer and pianist Waldo de los Ríos. Different guests like Raphael talk about the creator of the 'Hymn of Joy' and try to resolve the mysteries around this figure, who was surrounded by excess, violence and drugs beyond his incredible talent.

One of the great mysteries of the also known as 'Mozart of the 20th century' is his mysterious death: on the morning of March 28, 1977, Waldo de los Ríos was found dead with two shotgun blasts in his face. The documentary includes images, personal letters, audios, photographs, unpublished materials and testimonies to also investigate the Franco's dictatorship and homophobia, topics that led to the death of De los Ríos.

In this way, 'Waldo' reaches the limit of the documentary format, as it also narrates a Spanish society that was crying out for a change, a fact that did not arrive until the arrival of democracy in the country in 1975.

'Waldo' is directed by filmmakers Charlie Arnaiz and Alberto Ortega, who have previously been nominated to the Goya Award for the documentary 'Anatomía de un dandy'. It is produced and distributed by Dada Films and arrives in Spanish cinemas on November 15 after passing through different festivals.
